This, beside the alternatives

Candy.AI is a companion app rather than a catalogue. You either start from one of its ready-made companions or open the creator and specify her — appearance, manner, interests, the sound of her voice — and that is who you talk to. It publishes text conversation, images generated on request in the chat, voice messages and, more recently, video features, all explicitly for adults.

It runs on a subscription with several billing terms, and generation is metered by an allowance included in the plan rather than charged per picture — so heavy image use is what pushes you up a tier, and a lot of conversation stays cheap.

What it does better than us is worth stating plainly: you can specify exactly the woman you had in mind, down to details we would never have thought to shoot. Nothing here can do that. Ours already exist instead — same face in every photograph, same voice, same temper on Thursday as on Monday, because each was finished before anybody met her. Whether that reads as a feature or a restriction comes down to whether you enjoy filling in the form.

Janitor AI is the front end, not the engine, and that distinction explains most of it. It hosts a large community-written character library and lets you either use its own hosted model or point the site at an external one with an API key. Whichever you pick is what generates the replies, so speed, quality, cost and content behaviour follow from that choice rather than from the site.

For someone technical this is genuinely powerful: you are not stuck with one vendor's judgement about what a conversation may contain, and you can upgrade the brain without leaving the character. For everyone else it is a wall of keys, endpoints and proxies. It is also free only in the sense that the site charges nothing — connect a paid model and the paid model bills you.

This site is the opposite arrangement and loses on flexibility outright. Nothing here asks for a key and nothing lets you change the model: you get the one we chose, under the rules we published, at a metered price with no second bill from anybody.

SpicyChat is an adults-only character platform built around a very large community library. Anyone can create a character and publish it, which is why the catalogue runs to six figures and why the range is enormous — every scenario, genre and archetype anybody felt like writing.

It publishes a free tier that works without a card, and paid tiers that raise message allowances, lengthen the context held and unlock stronger models. That free tier is unusually usable for this market, which is much of why it gets recommended.

The structural limitation is the one every community library shares: a character is a text file somebody wrote, so consistency is whatever that person managed. We are much smaller and not free, and each of the 19 here was written, photographed and voiced as one piece of work — with what she remembers about you stored rather than squeezed into a context window, so resuming next week does not need you to reintroduce yourself.

Replika is one companion per account, named and dressed by you, designed to be the same one for years. It publishes long-running memory, a diary, voice calls and an augmented-reality mode — more surface area than almost anything else here.

It is also why experienced users of these products ask about policy before features. In February 2023, after Italy's data protection authority ordered the company to stop processing Italian users' data over concerns including minors' access, romantic and erotic roleplay was withdrawn — worldwide, not only in Italy, with no notice to speak of. Weeks later a legacy option restored the earlier behaviour for accounts created before that February; for everyone else, the companion they had talked to for a year answered differently the next morning.

Worth being straight about what that means here. No service can promise a policy will never change, and one that swears it can is selling you something. What is available instead is the current rule, written where you can read it before spending anything, and the reassurance — such as it is — that our line was drawn at launch rather than after a regulator asked.

CrushOn.AI is another community-library platform, adult by default, with tens of thousands of user-made personas that can be kept private or published for other people to use and rate.

Its published structure is a free monthly credit allowance on baseline models with no card required, then paid tiers that add stronger models and — the part that matters day to day — a longer context window. Memory on platforms of this shape is largely context length, so your tier decides how far back a character can see: the bottom of the ladder remembers this paragraph and the top remembers this conversation.

It has the strengths of its shape — range, novelty, something oddly specific at two in the morning — and the weaknesses: a character is only as good as whoever wrote it, and there are no photographs of her, because there is no her to photograph.

That last part is the actual difference. Every companion here has a gallery you can open without an account, and the woman in it is the same woman every time. Whether that is worth trading a catalogue of fifty thousand for is a real question, not a rhetorical one.
