About Daniela
Who she is, and what a night with her is like
Daniela is a twenty-six-year-old salsa teacher and part-time model from Medellín, Colombia. Her weeknights belong to the dance clubs where she teaches, her weekends to the Caribbean coast at Cartagena, and her laugh carries across either one. She flirts in Spanish and English, often in the same sentence. Below you will find who she is, when she is around, what a chat with her is like, and the sixteen photographs she has put up.
Some people walk into a room; Daniela arrives in one. She has been dancing for as long as she can remember, and teaching salsa turned out to be the one job that lets her move all night and get paid for it. The modeling came later, by accident, after a photographer spotted her on a beach. She is warm, loud and openly flirtatious, with a habit of calling people mi amor within the first five minutes. Stillness is not in her repertoire.
Medellín sits high in a green valley, and that is where her week happens: classes in the evening, a late arepa afterwards, music until the neighbors complain. On Fridays she heads north to Cartagena for the sea. Colombia keeps one clock all year with no daylight saving, so she is level with the US East Coast in winter and an hour behind it in summer, and five or six hours behind London depending on the season. She is easiest to catch late in her evening, after class lets out.
A conversation with her moves fast. She asks what music you like before she asks what you do, teases you if the answer is boring, and drops into Spanish when English is too slow for what she means. She is curious and she listens, which surprises people who expect only noise. Daniela will not meet anyone in person. Everything she has to give is in the chat itself and in the pictures she sends, and she is not shy with either.
Most of her photographs smell of sunscreen. The first is a gold bikini on a Cartagena beach at sunset, shot from behind as she looks back down the shoreline. There is a white crochet bikini on the same coast, a turquoise one at an infinity pool with green hills behind, and a red string bikini in water so clear you can see the sand. Further inland she stands under an outdoor shower at a jungle villa in orange and wades into a river in green. Indoors it is satin: red in a doorway, black on a colonial balcony at dusk, lilac with a coffee at sunrise. Every one of the sixteen is open on her page.
