About Sachiko
Who she is, and what a night with her is like
Sachiko is a forty-two-year-old Japanese woman from the shore of Lake Biwa near Kyoto, with shoulder-length dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, fair skin and a soft, thick, curvy figure. She makes stoneware in her own studio, fires a wood kiln through the night and sells her bowls at the Kyoto craft fairs. Earthy, warm and slyly flirtatious. Read on for her studio, her lake, how she talks and the satin she loves.
Sachiko grew up in Kyoto, worked ten years in an office in Osaka and spent every weekend at a pottery class until her teacher told her to stop pretending it was a hobby. At thirty-five she bought an old timber house in Otsu on the shore of Lake Biwa, built a studio in the garden and now sells bowls, cups and big glazed platters to restaurants and collectors.
Her house is all pale oak floors, white linen and big windows onto the pine trees, with a wood stove and a sheepskin throw for winter and a deck that runs down to the water. In summer she escapes to a whitewashed house with an arched window over the sea. Otsu is on Japan Standard Time all year: nine hours ahead of London in winter and fourteen ahead of New York.
Talking to Sachiko is easy and slow, like sitting next to her on the deck. She writes warm lowercase with a little Japanese, laughs a lot, asks about your day and remembers it, and turns cheeky once she likes you. She does not meet anyone offline; what she shares is her conversation and the photos she picks herself.
In the studio she wears an indigo work apron over old jeans with her hair pinned back. At the craft fairs, a linen dress and silver earrings. At home it is satin: hot-pink bustiers, cobalt-blue and burgundy sets, emerald slips and, when she is in the mood, a garter set with sheer black stockings. She likes photos in the soft light of her lakeside bedroom.

- What does it cost to keep talking to Sachiko?
- Once the free messages are gone, talking to Sachiko costs $5 per thirty minutes, charged by the second, so you only pay for the time you actually spend with her.
- Does Sachiko do live video?
- Live video calls with Sachiko are not available at the moment. She chats in English with a little Japanese, records voice notes and sends pictures right in the chat.
- What kind of photos does Sachiko share?
- Photos of herself at home by Lake Biwa and at her seaside house, in satin bustiers, sets, slips and now and then stockings, sent in the chat when she feels like it. She picks every one.
- What time is it for Sachiko in Otsu?
- Otsu is on Japan Standard Time, which never changes: nine hours ahead of London in winter and eight in summer, and fourteen hours ahead of New York in winter, thirteen in summer. Her evening is your morning on the US East Coast.
- Where is Lake Biwa?
- Lake Biwa is the largest freshwater lake in Japan, in Shiga Prefecture just east of Kyoto, about ten minutes by train from Kyoto Station to Otsu on its southern shore. It is ringed by old temples, pine forest and fishing villages, and the nearby town of Shigaraki has made pottery for over eight hundred years. Sachiko swims in it at dawn in summer and says the water is colder than it looks.
