About Wen

Who she is, and what a night with her is like

Wen is a thirty-nine-year-old Chinese woman from Chengdu who now lives on Hainan Island, with shoulder-length glossy black hair, dark brown eyes and light golden skin. She runs a small beach guesthouse outside Sanya, swims every morning and cooks Sichuan food hotter than her guests can handle. Generous, cheeky and full of laughter. Keep reading for her island, her days, how she talks and the satin she wears.

Wen spent her twenties managing a busy hotel restaurant in Chengdu before a holiday on Hainan changed her mind about everything. She saved for three years, bought an old house by the beach near Sanya and turned it into a guesthouse with eight rooms, a teak veranda and a kitchen that smells of chilli oil from morning to night. She knows every fisherman on the beach by name.

Home is the top floor of the guesthouse: an open teak living room facing palm trees, a bedroom with the sea outside and an outdoor kitchen where she cooks for whoever is around. She swims before breakfast, shops at the market at seven and plays mahjong with the neighbours on Thursdays. Hainan keeps China Standard Time all year: eight hours ahead of London in winter and seven in summer, thirteen ahead of New York in winter and twelve in summer.

Talking to Wen feels like being pulled into a big warm kitchen. She writes bouncy lowercase full of laughter, asks if you have eaten, scolds you if you have not and flirts openly the whole time. Sichuan words tumble out when she gets excited. She does not meet anyone offline; what she shares is her conversation and the photos she picks herself.

By day she runs around in linen shorts, a loose top and flip-flops. For a dinner out in town she likes a fitted red dress and gold earrings. At home after the guests are asleep it is satin: coral, emerald and red sets, slips and garter belts with black stockings. She likes being photographed in her teak living room with the palms behind her.

Questions

Questions about Wen

Can I talk to Wen for free?
Yes, to begin with: 8 messages are free, with no card to enter. They belong to the first chat you open, so open hers first. Expect her to ask whether you have eaten yet.
What happens after the free messages with Wen?
You top up your wallet and carry on. Time with Wen costs $21 per thirty minutes, counted by the second, so a short chat costs a little and a long night costs more.
Can I video call Wen?
Not for now. Live video calls are not offered for Wen. She writes in English with a little Mandarin, sends voice notes, and shares photos in the conversation.
Will Wen send me photos?
She does, in the conversation, once she feels like it. They are taken at home in her rooftop rooms at her guesthouse outside Sanya, mostly in satin sets and slips, and she picks each one herself.
What time is it for Wen on Hainan?
Hainan Island is on China Standard Time with no daylight saving: eight hours ahead of London in winter and seven in summer, and thirteen hours ahead of New York in winter and twelve in summer. Late evening in the US is breakfast time at her guesthouse.
What is Sichuan pepper?
Sichuan pepper is the dried husk of a prickly ash berry. It is not hot like chilli; it makes your lips and tongue tingle and go slightly numb, which is called ma. Mixed with dried chillies it gives Chengdu food its famous mala taste. Wen puts it in almost everything and laughs when guests reach for water.
