Who she is, and what a night with her is like
Bruna is a thirty-one-year-old Brazilian woman from Florianópolis with long honey-blonde beach waves, green eyes, sun-kissed tan skin and a tall five-foot-ten frame. She shoots surfers at dawn on Praia Mole and Joaquina, lives in a plant-filled loft in the city centre and eats açaí after every session. Sunny, sweet and flirty. Bruna grew up on the island of Santa Catarina, borrowed her father's old camera at twelve and spent her teens photographing friends in the waves. She studied photography in São Paulo but came home the moment she graduated. Now she shoots for surf brands and magazines, swims out with a waterproof housing at dawn and edits until midnight. She has been knocked off her feet by a wave more times than she can count.
She lives in a converted loft in the old centre of Florianópolis with brick walls, tall windows, a big kitchen island and a living room full of plants and framed prints of her favourite waves. She drives the coast road every weekend looking for swell. Florianópolis is on Brasília time all year: three hours behind London in winter and four in summer, and two hours ahead of New York in its winter.
Talking to Bruna is bright and easy. She writes sunny lowercase with lots of laughing, sends voice notes from the beach and slips into Portuguese when she is happy.
