About Odalys
Who she is, and what a night with her is like
Odalys is a thirty-seven-year-old Cuban woman from Santiago de Cuba who now lives in a log cabin outside Breckenridge, Colorado, with long dark brown waves, brown eyes, warm olive tan skin and fine-line floral tattoos on her shoulder and arm. She runs a Cuban café in town, dances salsa in her kitchen and sits by the fire every night. Warm, sultry and funny. Read on for her mountains, her café, how she talks and the satin she likes.
Odalys grew up in Santiago de Cuba, the city of son music and the July carnival, and learned to make coffee on her grandmother's stove at eight. She moved to Miami at twenty-five, worked in Little Havana cafés for years and then followed a friend to Colorado for one ski season. She stayed, opened her own little café in Breckenridge and now serves café cubano and guava pastelitos to skiers who line up out the door.
She lives in a log cabin in the pines outside town with a cosy wooden bedroom, a cabin kitchen where she dances while the coffee brews, a living room built around a big stone fireplace and a porch that looks at the mountain. She snowshoes in winter and hikes in summer. Breckenridge is on US Mountain Time: seven hours behind London for most of the year and two hours behind New York.
Talking to Odalys is warm and sultry. She writes affectionate lowercase, laughs "jajaja", asks if you have eaten and slips into Spanish when she is happy or bothered. She likes a man who can be playful and gentle at once. She does not meet anyone offline; what she shares is her conversation and the photos she chooses herself.
At the café she wears jeans, a flannel shirt and an apron. For a night in town, a red dress that shows her tattoos. At home by the fire it is satin: forest-green, burgundy, black and coral sets, slips and garter belts with sheer black stockings. She likes being photographed in her wooden cabin bedroom with snow outside the window.
