White on white is the awkward one. Hold the folds in an open shirt and the bedding behind it goes flat; expose for the bedding and the shirt loses its structure. These frames sit slightly under, which keeps the texture in the cotton and pushes the warmth back into the skin.
Two red dresses are the only break in the run, and they are placed like punctuation — one seated on the bed, one at the edge of it. Lace worn underneath supplies the other contrast, dark through the cotton rather than beside it. Beyond those, the palette does not move.
Outdoors it is sand and a flat ocean horizon under plain daylight; at dusk it is a rail with the city going blue behind. Long dark brown hair is the only strong value in most of these, which is why so many of them are composed to include the entire length of it.
